This is a autobiographical piece that I did to explain how my life is tied to memories of a war, experienced as a child that tethers the adult to a vulnerable place forever.
The soldiers seen here are fading but still present, representing the ones I watched die. The crosses, poppies all symbols I understand all too well. For me it marks a movement forward and a step towards acceptance.
As it was a private piece and one with a great deal of personal truth it went to a retired Cop whom I respect a great deal, who’s own journey mirrors my own. Some pieces that speak to a human who has given so much of themselves to others are simply gifted, to charge for them would be to devalue their significance to me.
